Common questions
What are the Self Assessment deadlines?
Paper returns are due by 31 October and online returns by 31 January following the end of the tax year on 5 April. Any tax due must generally be paid by 31 January. New taxpayers must register with HMRC by 5 October following the end of the tax year.
How do I know if I need to file a tax return?
It depends on your income and circumstances, for example self-employment, rental income or certain other income. Ask us and we will tell you whether you need to file.
